Tuition fees

If you are on an undergraduate teacher training course in England, you are not eligible for waived tuition fees.

As from September 2006, providers of teacher training will therefore be able to charge students up to £3,000 per year in tuition fees. You won't have to pay anything up-front if you don’t want to; your fees are simply added onto your student loan and are repaid when you are earning over £15,000.

Postgraduate options

From September 2006, students in England will be eligible for a non-means tested grant of £1,200 and to apply for an additional means-tested grant of £1,500.

In addition, eligible postgraduate trainee teachers are entitled to a tax-free bursary while they train, the value of which will depend on where you train, the subject you are training to teach, and when you start your course.

If you are on a postgraduate training course in Wales, you are entitled to waived tuition fees - this means that your fees will be paid in full from public funds. This is not means-tested on parental or independent income.
