Mentoring support

Learn more about the TDA-backed pilot: the ‘Starting Out programme’
Mentoring support for new maths and science teachers in London, West Midlands and the East of England
Starting out on a career in maths or science?
Putting your knowledge and skills into practice as a new teacher can be challenging.
If you’re in the first two years of teaching, are newly qualified or currently being trained, give yourself an extra boost by joining the Starting Out programme.
Starting out is a pilot mentoring scheme for teachers just like you, working in London, West Midlands or the East of England.
You’ll get up to two years’ professional mentoring tailored specifically to your needs, which complements your school induction.
You can choose from face-to-face sessions, subject e-mentoring on line, or network mentoring – sharing a mentor and networking with others for ideas.
Starting Out is complementary to existing in-school support and gives you everything you need to teach your subject and develop as a teacher.
It’s funded by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) so you don’t have to worry about cost, with minimal impact on your timetable.
Join Starting Out now – or recommend a colleague.
Just complete our application form or email us at STEMmentoring@LSNeducation.org.uk
It’s the best decision you’ll ever make.
