ATL representatives

ATL reps

Over 18,000 members of ATL work as ATL representatives in schools and colleges, and ITT institutions, which means that they provide vital information and support to their colleagues.

ATL representatives carry out four main tasks:

  • recruiting new members into ATL membership – introducing themselves to new members of staff or other students and asking them to join
  • acting as a communication link on key issues in education between ATL and other members in the school/college or other members at the ITT institution
  • signposting ATL members to sources of information and advice within ATL
  • in schools, providing information to other members in the school /college and raising the profile of ATL by updating the staffroom noticeboard with posters and newsletters.

ATL works hard to support its representatives, making sure they have all the training, information and advice necessary to be effective in the role.
