A union learning rep (ULR) will work closely with school/college members and management to identify ways to improve access and quality of current provision as well as source new opportunities. The role can include:
ATL has around 70 learning reps working in branches, schools and colleges both in the maintained and the independent sector.

Learning reps in schools where ATL have recognition now have statutory rights to paid time off to attend courses and to carry out their role. The 3-day training course for learning reps covers principles of CPD and lifelong learning, interview skills, advocacy skills, negotiation skills and working to build successful partnerships.
