This 72-page booklet offers national guidance where guidance may otherwise be unavailable, incomplete or not up-to-date, but should not be used as a replacement for local or other professional guidance or regulations. It sets out principles rather than trying to cover every eventuality, leaving it to teachers to use their professional judgement when applying and implementing the guidance. Ref: HSPV2

Adventure Activities Licensing Authority
An independent watchdog on the delivery of outdoor adventure activities for young people. The site offers lots of useful links and answers to frequently asked questions.

British Activity Holiday Association (BAHA)
The trade association for private sector providers of activity holidays and courses in the UK. Member centres have all agreed to abide by the BAHA Code of Practice and are committed to high standards of safety, value for money and customer service.

Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
The HSE is responsible for the regulation of almost all the risks to health and safety arising from work activity in Britain. This site offers lots of advice and information.
